Jama Addresses G77 Summit on Ethiopia’s Violation of Somalia’s Sovereignty

Deputy Prime Minister Salah Jama blasted Ethiopia for breaching the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia.

Addressing the G77 summit in China, the Deputy Prime Minister hit out at Ethiopia for the deal it signed with Somaliland on January 1, 2024.

The deal grants Ethiopia access to 20kms of Somaliland’s coastline.

Somalia considers Somaliland part of its territory.

He urged G77 member states to demonstrate solidarity with Somalia in the country’s ongoing diplomatic row with Ethiopia.

In his address, Jama told G77 members that the move by Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is portends a grave security threat to the entire Horn of Africa region.
