James Swan Discusses Somalia Refugees and IDPs with Abdelmoula and Grandi

On October 22, James Swan held a virtual meeting with Adam Abdelmoula and Filippo Grandi to discuss the plight of refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Somalia.

James Swan is the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General for Somalia and the Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM).

Adam Abdelmoula is the Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary General. He is the Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator too.

Filippo Grandi is the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

The three senior UN officials discussed the support that the global organization can extend to refugees and IDPs in the East African nation.

They also talked about finding ways of ensuring that refugees and IDPs continue to receive the much-needed protection and improved security.

Further, the three leaders delved into the need for identifying permanent solutions to solve the problems that refugees and IDPs experience in Somalia.
