Lower Shabelle’s Janaale Hospital was the recipient of medical supplies donated by the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SODMA).
The hospital, which mainly serves the residents of Lower Shabelle and the surrounding regions, received the donation on Saturday.
While donating the medicine, SODMA stated that the supplies would prove effective in treating patients diagnosed with waterborne diseases.
Lately, the region has experienced floods from the heavy rains brought about by El Nino.
With the available water contaminated, the risk of an outbreak of diseases such as diarrhea has increased manifold thus increasing the likelihood of conditions such as malnutrition.
