A Somali journalist who was injured during the recent attack at Mogadishu’s Elite Hotel has received medical assistance from the Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ).
On Friday, FESOJ handed medical assistance to the tune of $2,000 to the journalist.
Mohamed Abdi was critically injured when Al-Shabaab militants detonated a car bomb outside the hotel on the evening of August 16.
Afterward, they forced their way into the hotel and began shooting at everyone on sight.
It took the intervention of the specially trained Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers to arrive at the scene to eliminate all the extremists.
On August 28, FESOJ handed the money over to Abdi on behalf of the Free Press Unlimited Emergency Response.
Abdi has been in hospital since the attack receiving medical treatment for his injuries.
