Kismayo, Somalia – Jubbaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam Madobe, met on Friday with US Ambassador to Somalia Richard H. Riley, who headed a delegation during a working visit to the southern regional state.
The meeting, attended by Jubbaland’s Interior Minister and the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, centered on enhancing bilateral ties, especially in security, US-backed development projects, and Somalia’s broader political landscape.
Jubbaland officials noted that the talks stressed the need for coordinated national security measures during ongoing campaigns against Al-Shabaab militants.
In a short social media update, Amb. Riley underscored the value of national unity against terrorism.
“Today in Kismayo, I met with the President of Jubbaland to discuss the importance of national unity to fight terrorism for the benefit of the people of Jubbaland and all of Somalia,” he stated.
Jubbaland and the United States continue their collaboration on security and development efforts, with the Ambassador’s visit viewed as bolstering this partnership.
