Jubaland’s Minister of Education Dies in India

Authorities have announced that Moalim Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed, the Minister of Education in the Jubaland administration, has died in India.

His death comes just three weeks after Jubaland’s President Ahmed Madobe signed a historic deal with three of his fiercest competitors.

Moalim died at a New Delhi hospital where he had been receiving treatment for the last four months.

However, Jubaland’s regional government is yet to release details regarding the ailment for which he was receiving treatment.

The Jubaland administration posted news of his demise on Twitter while noting his immense contribution in bettering the standards of education in the region.

On his part, President Madobe called him a “pillar” in Jubaland’s department of education. He added that Moalim’s death “was a huge loss to not only the region but also the whole country.”

Whether he will be interred in India or his body brought home for burial is unclear considering the Federal Government of Somalia banned all international flights over COVID-19 fears.
