Jubbaland Cabinet Meets to Discuss Elections and Public Services

Kismayo, Jubbaland – On Thursday, President Ahmed Mohamed Islam Madobe, chaired the weekly cabinet meeting in Kismayo, where discussions focused on a broad agenda touching on governance, development, and social progress.

According to a statement from the Jubbaland State House, the cabinet reviewed ongoing preparations for the much-anticipated local council elections, which are seen as a significant step toward deepening grassroots democracy in the state. The elections are expected to empower local administrations and enhance citizens’ participation in decision-making.

President Madobe underscored the need for efficient public service delivery, urging ministries to speed up reforms in critical sectors such as health, education, and infrastructure. He emphasized that the government’s goal is to ensure citizens have access to quality services and that institutions are more accountable and transparent in their operations.

The meeting also explored ways to promote tourism, with officials discussing a new policy framework aimed at attracting investment and showcasing Jubbaland’s natural beauty, coastline, and cultural heritage. The President noted that responsible tourism could play a vital role in creating jobs and strengthening the local economy.

Youth and sports development featured prominently in the deliberations, with ministers highlighting the importance of creating more opportunities for young people. Plans to build and rehabilitate sports facilities, encourage local tournaments, and support youth entrepreneurship were discussed as part of Jubbaland’s broader social development strategy.

President Madobe closed the meeting by calling for unity and hard work across government institutions, stressing that the cabinet’s collective focus should remain on delivering tangible improvements to the lives of Jubbaland’s citizens.
