Jubbaland Cabinet Slams Electoral Bias, Calls for Inclusive National Talks

Kismayo, Somalia — Jubbaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam Madobe on Saturday convened an extraordinary cabinet meeting in Kismayo to address what he termed “one-sided constitutional and electoral processes,” urging the Federal Government to embrace inclusive dialogue.

During the session, President Madobe condemned alleged political interference by Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in Gedo region’s local affairs, calling it a threat to Somalia’s fragile state-building process.

Madobe accused Mogadishu of undermining Jubaland’s autonomy and stoking tensions at a time when national unity is paramount.

The Jubbaland leader pressed for the immediate convening of an inclusive National Conference, gathering all key stakeholders to reach a political consensus.

“A participatory process is the only way to ensure sustainable peace and stability across the country,” Madobe told his cabinet.

Additionally, the meeting focused on improving project implementation and public service delivery.

Madobe directed his cabinet to enhance transparency and oversight of all ongoing government projects to better serve the people of Jubbaland and ensure that public funds achieve tangible results on the ground.

The extraordinary cabinet session concluded with a commitment to uphold regional priorities, strengthen collaboration with local communities, and advocate for a unified, inclusive political process to resolve national disputes.
