On October 7, the Jubbaland Chamber of Commerce elected a new team of officials in a function that took place in Kismayo.
Several businesspeople from Jubbaland attended the event to cast votes for their preferred candidates.
The elections proceeded relatively peacefully.
Dinle Mohamed and Hussein Rabi Kahin were the two candidates who forwarded their names for the vacant position of chairperson.
Kahin emerged victorious with 51 out of 70 votes.
Dinle came in second with 19 votes.
Members of the business community at the event congratulated the victorious individuals and pledged to work closely with them.
Kahin takes over from the previous chairperson who was killed last month in a suicide bombing attack in Kismayo.
