The regional state of Jubbaland claims that Somalia cannot conclude the ongoing parliamentary elections by March 15.
On March 13, a statement from authorities in Jubbaland indicated that it’s impossible for the East African nation to meet the deadline.
Specifically, Jubbaland said that it’s unable to conclude its own share of the polls.
There has been conflict and tension in Garbaharey that prevents the region from holding its House of the People elections.
Consequently, the Jubbaland leadership wants the electoral center relocated to Kismayo.
Currently, Jubbaland hasn’t conducted elections for 16 Lower House seats.
