President Ahmed Mohamed Islam has returned to Kismayo after signing a historic deal with Sheikh Dahir and Abdirashid Hidig.
All the leaders traveled back together on Wednesday.
Top government officials and throngs of supporters were at the airport in Kismayo to receive the leaders back.
Several international partners have congratulated Somali leaders, specifically President Islam, Dahir, and Hidig for signing the peace accord.
Speaking to the media, Hidig said they had to compromise for the sake of peace in Jubbaland and Somalia too.
He further clarified that they traveled back together to begin implementing the terms of the historic deal, which sets the stage for complete reconciliation.
