A minister in the regional government of Jubbaland held a meeting with the Swedish Ambassador to Somalia in Nairobi.
The meeting between Abdirahman Abdi Ahmed and Ambassador Per Lingrade took place on April 14 in the Kenyan capital.
Ahmed is Jubbaland’s State Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.
During the meeting, Ahmed briefed Ambassador Lingrade on the ongoing drought that afflicts Somalis throughout the country.
Jubbaland is one of the worst affected areas, too.
The two leaders also discussed ways in which Sweden can make a positive contribution to the ongoing drought.
Somalis affected by the drought need emergency humanitarian assistance.
Ambassador Lingrade commended the Jubbaland administration, under President Ahmed Islam Madobe, for the drought response measures put in place.
