The regional state of Jubbaland has named the teams that would appoint delegates who will elect legislators for two local parliamentary seats.
Jubbaland’s State Elections Implementation Team (SEIT) published the names of the delegates on March 18.
SEIT selected its teams from a list featuring traditional elders and members of civil society groups.
Five members would elect the new Member of Parliament (MP) for HOP#029.
Another set of five members would then take part in electing the new HOP#124 MP.
Jubbaland is in a race to conclude its elections after the March 15 deadline expired. It’s one of only two regional states – with HirShabelle the other – yet to conclude the polls.
