President Ahmed Islam Madobe of Jubbaland held a meeting with the United States Ambassador to Somalia, Donald Yamamoto, and several top US military leaders.
Madobe met with Ambassador Yamamoto on Wednesday September 16 in Mogadishu.
He has been in the nation’s capital for the last two weeks for a meeting between Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS) to discuss elections.
President Madobe also met with top representatives from the US military.
Specifically, he met with Brig. Gen. Dagvin R. M. Anderson, the Commander of Special Operations at the US Africa Command (AFRICOM).
The meeting between Madobe, Ambassador Yamamoto, and Brig. Gen. Anderson took place at the US Embassy in Mogadishu.
Among the issues discussed at the meeting included the war on Al-Shabaab and the security cooperation between FGS and FMS.
