Jubbaland’s Madobe in Nairobi for Medical Treatment

President Ahmed Islam Mohamed Madobe of Jubbaland traveled to Nairobi for medical treatment, his office announced on Sunday.

According to his office in Kismayo, Madobe had to travel to a hospital in the Kenyan capital for an unspecified medical procedure.

His office later announced that he underwent a “successful” treatment.

Nairobi remains one of Madobe’s most preferred places to visit. He has also used it to meet with his competitors for dialogue.

Officials from his office said he has already returned to Kismayo.

President Madobe is expected to resume his presidential duties soon after spending “several days” in Kenya receiving treatment, his office announced on August 23.

Crucially, Madobe was absent from the Dhusamareb III talks that agreed on the electoral model for Somalia’s upcoming elections. The talks ended last week.
