There was jubilation during a ceremony held to celebrate the launch of the Berbera Women’s Fish Market.
The market, which was launched toward the end of June, has attracted plenty of positive reviews.
It offers small traders a platform to sell their fish.
Specifically, it will host 65 women traders.
They will sell their products to Berbera consumers first. However, plans are in place to have them distribute to other Somaliland regions and cities too
The market is the product of joint efforts of the local administration, Denmark, and the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) of the United Kingdom.
TradeMark Africa also played a significant role in the market’s construction and eventual launch.
