Kenya Airways Blames Adverse Weather over Weeklong Diversion of Flights to Mogadishu

Kenya Airways (KQ) says that the weeklong diversion of its flights to Mogadishu was the result of adverse weather.

The Kenyan airlines has been unable to land its planes at the Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu for close to a week.

KQ blames this on the adverse weather that has bedeviled Somalia and much of the region for more than a month.

It added that the conditions made it unsafe to fly to Aden Adde International Airport for the last one week.

The stronger-than-usual tailwinds have been the norm since May 24, 2024 in Somalia with Mogadishu one of the worst-affected areas.
