Kenya and Somalia to Investigate the Bardale Plane Crash Jointly

President Mohamed Farmaajo of Somalia and President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya have agreed on a joint investigation of Monday’s plane crash at Bardale.

The African Express plane crash killed all the six people who were on board.

Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the two leaders spoke on phone before agreeing to conduct a joint probe on claims that Ethiopian troops shot the plane down.

A statement from Kenyans foreign affairs ministry partly read, “President Farmaajo has invited civil aviation experts from Kenya to work with their Somali counterparts to probe the crash.”

According to Somalia’s Ministry of Transport and Aviation, the plane crash took place on Monday at 1530 hours local time.

Kenya’s Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), though, says the crash happened at around 1620 hours when the plane lost contact.

The investigations will also look at the exact cause of the plane crash and the events that took place before, during, and after the incident.
