Kenya Discusses Plans to Open a Consul in Hargeisa

Kenya discussed plans to open a consul in Hargeisa, the capital city of Somaliland, with officials representing both countries.

The Kenya and Somaliland officials met in Nairobi on February 10.

A delegation of Somaliland officials traveled to Nairobi this week for a meeting with the Kenyan Head of the Public Service.

The officials discussed ways of solidifying diplomatic relations between their respective nations.

Somaliland officials included Hassan Gafadhi and Dr. Saad Ali Shire, the Minister of National Planning and Minister of Finance respectively.

They held a closed-door meeting with Joseph Kinyua, the Head of the Public Service.

Kenya is scheduled to open its consul in Hargeisa this year.

Furthermore, the two nations discussed the introduction of direct flights between Nairobi and Hargeisa.

Bashe Omar, the Somaliland Ambassador to Kenya, also attended the Wednesday talks.
