Kenya Enhances Security along Border with Somalia ahead of August Elections

Kenya has enhanced security along its border with Somalia ahead of August’s general elections.

James Kianda, the North Eastern Regional Commissioner, announced the measures that the government has taken to improve security along the Kenya-Somalia border.

He spoke on July 23 while providing updates on security arrangements in three counties.

The counties in question are Wajir, Garissa, and Mandera.

All three counties border Somalia.

According to Kianda, the Kenyan government has prioritized these areas following recent cases of insecurity by terrorists.

Kenya holds general elections on August 9.
