Kenya, Ethiopia, and Uganda have agreed to deploy additional forces not affiliated with the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) to support counterterrorism efforts.
The three neighboring countries of Somalia announced plans to deploy the non-ATMIS personnel within the next few weeks.
They will take part in the next phase of military operations against Al-Shabaab terrorists.
Somalia has been undertaking non-stop operations against members of the terrorist group for several months now.
Hussein Sheikh Ali told the Voice of America (VOA) Somalia in an interview in Washington DC on Thursday.
Ali is the National Security Adviser of the Presidency of Somalia.
