Kenya has formed a committee to resolve its latest diplomatic fallout with Somalia, a senior government official announced on December 15.
The committee starts work with immediate effect.
Cyrus Oguna, the government spokesperson, announced the formation of the committee on Tuesday afternoon.
His announcement came hours after Somalia severed relations with Kenya accusing the latter of interfering in its internal affairs.
On Monday night, Mogadishu issued a communiqué cutting off all links with Nairobi.
The decision was made a day after the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) submitted a letter of protest against Kenya to the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
Somalia is yet to comment on the latest development from Nairobi.
Analysts believe that the straw that finally broke the camel’s back was the decision by Nairobi to host President Muse Bihi Abdi of Somaliland who is in Kenya on a three-day official visit.
