Kenya has ordered 118 armored personnel carriers from Turkey to boost its fight against Al-Shabaab in the region.
According to information multiple sources, the carriers would be used in Somalia.
Kenya has deployed several soldiers under African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) to fight the Al-Qaeda linked group.
Kenya Defense Force (KDF) personnel are actively involved in the fight against Al-Shabaab in the East African nation.
It is not yet clear when the armored personnel carriers would be delivered to either Nairobi or the KDF contingent in Somalia.
The decision to buy the carriers from Turkey is interesting considering that the European nation is one of Somalia’s international partners.
