The Kenyan government has promised to send more police officers to Somalia.
On October 6, Nairobi confirmed that more officers will arrive in Somalia soon to join their colleagues who already serve under African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).
Hillary Mutyambai, the Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service (KPS), reiterated Kenya’s desire to boost stability of their neighboring nation.
Further, the Inspector General said that Kenya’s officers also benefit by serving in Somalia.
According to him, the police officers are then able to serve the Kenyan public much better upon returning to their country.
Mutyambai was speaking during his meeting with a delegation from the African Union Police Selection Assistance and Assessment Team (SAAT).
SAAT is in Nairobi to evaluate and select the best officers for deployment to Somalia.
