Kenya Withdraws from the Maritime Case with Somalia

Kenya has withdrawn from the maritime case that it has with Somalia at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Reports from Nairobi indicate that Kenya will not participate in the case.

Kenya’s withdrawal took place a few hours before the case is scheduled to kick off at The Hague.

Early this year, Kenya applied to ICJ asking for the postponement of the case citing the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, ICJ refused to grant Kenya the request.

Kenya withdrew from the case at the last minute despite confirming the readiness of its legal team to handle the matter.
