A delegation from Kenya is expected to arrive in Mogadishu soon to start discussions on resumption of bilateral ties.
Kenya and Somalia have not been seeing eye to eye for close to three years now.
Late last year, Somalia ordered its diplomats back to Mogadishu from the Embassy in Kenya.
Similarly, Somalia gave Kenyan diplomats seven days to leave and return to Nairobi.
Somalia took the matter all the way to the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), which called an extraordinary session in Djibouti to discuss the issue.
However, IGAD urged the two countries to resume talks to solve any differences they have with each other.
The Kenyan government, under President Uhuru Kenyatta, seems intent on solving the issue; hence, the decision to send the delegation to Somalia to renew relations.
The Kenyan delegation is expected in Mogadishu on January 10.
On January 9, IGAD sent its delegation to Mogadishu for a meeting with Balal Osman, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
