The Kenyan President has embarked on a mission to ease tension between Somalia and Ethiopia.
President William Ruto hosted Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in Nairobi for the just-concluded United Nations Environmental Assembly (UNEA6).
Sources revealed that President Ruto reached out to the two leaders using back channels.
He sought to convince them to reduce the rhetoric and animosity between their respective nations.
Somalia and Ethiopia have been at loggerheads since January 1 this year when the latter signed a controversial seaport deal with Somaliland.
Ruto’s confidants expect the noise between Somalia and Ethiopia to reduce significantly from this week.
