A Kenyan-Somali has been named the new head of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Amin Ibrahim Mohamed trounced nine other individuals who had been shortlisted by the National Police Service Commission (NPSC).
The commission vetted all 10 candidates for the position before settling on Mohamed.
DCI had no Director after George Kinoti resigned immediately after President Dr. William Ruto was sworn into office a month ago.
President Ruto published Mohamed’s appointment vide a gazette notice dated October 14, 2022.
Mohamed is the immediate former Director of the Internal Affairs Unit.
The new Director is not a stranger to the DCI. He has served in the organization before in various positions.
