Jama Hassan Khalif became the first minister in the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) to visit Las Anod.
Khalif, the federal Minister of Communications and Technology, visited the clash-hit region on Friday.
He becomes the seniormost representative of the federal government to visit the region.
His visit takes place a few weeks after Abdi Hassan Hijar, the former Somali Police Force (SPF) commissioner, also toured the area.
Las Anod has been the scene of deadly clashes between Somaliland troops and SCC-Khatuma forces.
Khalif held discussions with representatives of the SCC-Khatuma forces.
