KRG Hosts Somaliland Parliamentarians in London for Diplomatic Engagement

London, UK — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Representation in London hosted a visiting delegation from the Parliament of Somaliland in a meeting aimed at strengthening dialogue and fostering mutual cooperation between the two regions.

The gathering brought together representatives of the KRG’s diplomatic mission in the United Kingdom and members of Somaliland’s legislative body to exchange insights on regional governance, parliamentary development, and diaspora engagement.

According to a statement from the KRG Representation Office in London, the meeting emphasized the importance of inter-regional parliamentary collaboration, the sharing of legislative experiences, and continued support for peaceful political processes in both Somaliland and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

Both parties discussed matters relating to self-governance, state-building efforts, and strategies for economic development in post-conflict societies. The Somaliland MPs expressed appreciation for the hospitality extended by the KRG and acknowledged the role of such exchanges in building international solidarity among regions with shared aspirations for recognition and development.

The visit comes amid Somaliland’s ongoing efforts to gain wider international recognition and establish stronger ties with regional and international actors. Similarly, the KRG continues to expand its diplomatic outreach through cultural and political exchanges with like-minded entities.

No bilateral agreements were announced during the meeting, but both sides agreed to maintain communication and pursue avenues for continued engagement.

This diplomatic encounter highlights a growing trend of regional governments reaching beyond traditional state frameworks to create new channels of cooperation.
