Kuwait Rejects Israel-Somaliland Deal, Backs Somalia’s Sovereignty

Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially declared the nation’s unwavering support for the Federal Republic of Somalia’s sovereignty across all its territories. In a statement released on Saturday, the Ministry formally rejected the recently established mutual recognition between Israeli authorities and the Somaliland region.

The Kuwaiti government described the announcement as a “unilateral measure” in direct violation of international law. By treating the breakaway region as a sovereign entity, the statement maintained, Israeli officials are disregarding legal frameworks designed to protect the territorial integrity of sovereign nations. Kuwait emphasized that such actions carry no legal standing and harm the stability of international relations.

In its declaration, Kuwait reaffirmed its steadfast opposition to this approach, characterizing it as an attempt to undermine the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia. The Ministry promised Kuwait’s “complete support” for Somalia’s legitimate governmental institutions, stressing that preserving Mogadishu’s authority is crucial for maintaining order and national unity. The government expressed its rejection of any policies that diminish the central government’s authority or promote fragmentation.

This stance places Kuwait in alignment with the prevailing position among Arab and Gulf states, strengthening the diplomatic protection for Somalia. The statement conveys solidarity to the Somali people, assuring them of Kuwait’s commitment to defending their national unity against external diplomatic efforts aimed at legitimizing separatist movements and circumventing the Federal Government.
