President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen of Southwest urged the business community to contribute towards emergency drought assistance in the regional state.
President Laftagareen issued this clarion call on February 12 during a meeting with a delegation from the Southwest Chamber of Commerce.
The meeting took place at Laftagareen’s office in Baidoa on Saturday.
Laftagareen reminded the officials from the Chamber of Commerce to take cognizant of the important role they can play in addressing drought-related problems in the Southwest.
The regional state has a large population of its residents affected by the drought.
President Laftagareen’s administration has already instituted emergency drought response measures to address the situation.
