Catriona Laing, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) of the United Nations, visited Puntland.
Laing was in Puntland for a meeting with the region’s President Said Abdullahi Deni.
Sources intimated that Laing and President Deni discussed the fallout from the amendments to the Provisional Constitution that parliament passed on Saturday.
Parliament voted overwhelmingly to pass the amendments.
In return, Puntland announced that it would no longer recognize the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
Laing and the UN delegation were in the regional state to cool down the political fallout.
