Lawmakers Survive a Grenade Attack as SNA Repels Al-Shabaab

Several lawmakers in Somalia survived a grenade attack on October 5.

Elsewhere, Somali National Army (SNA) repelled an attack by Al-Shabaab fighters in Lower Shabelle’s Janale town the same day.

According to state media, SNA soldiers in the area killed three of the militants who attempted to overrun a local camp after a brief exchange of fire.

In the other incident, two regional lawmakers escaped a grenade attack with minor injuries in Jowhar town.

The lawmakers were identified as Mohamed Dheere and Abdirahman Idow.

The militants attacked them as HirShabelle concluded elections for the two remaining regional senatorial elections.

At the time, they were in the local mayor’s house when a grenade was hurled inside.
