Lower House Elections in HirShabelle Could be Rigged, Claims Regional Vice President

Elections for Lower House seats in HirShabelle could be rigged, Yusuf Daba-Geed, the regional state Vice President stated.

Daba-Geed was speaking on December 18 on the ongoing elections.

Vice President Daba-Geed’s claims come amid unresolved complaints and concerns raised by opposition candidates.

Opposition candidates have repeatedly called for fair, credible, and transparent elections.

Somalia is currently holding elections for House of the People (Lower House) seats.

Delegates across the land are responsible for electing new Members of Parliament (MPs) who would then elect the country’s next president.

Daba-Geed stated categorically that the 11th Federal Parliament would only have MPs that they want in the Lower House.
