Madobe Leads Talks Aimed at Fast-Tracking Legislative Process

MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Speaker of Somalia’s House of the People, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe, chaired the 17th meeting of the Standing Committee. The important meeting, held at the Villa Hargeisa Leadership and Committees Headquarters, centered on organizing legislative priorities for the current 7th parliamentary session.

During his opening address, the Speaker presented a detailed report to committee members about essential tasks and pending legislation before the House. He stressed the importance of expediting these legal documents to help Parliament meet its constitutional obligations during this session.

During the meeting, the House of the People Auditor, MP Mohamed Abdullahi Hassan (Nuuh), swore in the newly appointed Minister of Public Works, Reconstruction, and Housing, Mr. Ayub Ismail Yusuf. This official swearing-in ceremony enabled the minister to begin his responsibilities in the executive branch.

Committee members then listened to detailed presentations from leaders and representatives of different parliamentary sub-committees. These updates covered the status of legislation being examined, outlining necessary procedures and expected timelines for presentation to the full assembly for discussion and approval.

The session concluded with the committee establishing the agenda and scheduling activities for the 13th week of the House of the People. This planning creates a well-organized and productive work schedule for the legislative body in the upcoming period.
