A massive Internet blackout was reported in Somalia on Saturday, October 17.
According to most users, the blackout was mostly limited to the southern and central parts of the East African nation.
Although satellite Internet is available in the nation’s capital, most users complain that it is too costly and slow.
Earlier today, Hormuud Telecom, one of Somalia’s largest Internet Service Providers (ISPs) issued a statement informing users of no connectivity.
Hormuud never provided users with exact timelines of when the blackout would end.
Other ISPs joined Hormuud in communicating their planned blackout. They promised to solve the problem and restore connectivity as soon as possible, though.
