The medical aid that the Turkish government recently donated to Somalia has arrived at Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu.
A plane carrying the supplies landed at the airport earlier today.
The plane, which belongs to Turkish Airlines, carried equipment and supplies meant to help the Federal Government of Somalia tackle COVID-19, which continues to ravage the country.
On Thursday, Mevlut Cavusoglu, Turkey’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, delivered a promise from Ankara that his country would be donating medical supplies to the Horn of Africa nation.
While receiving the aid, Hamsa Said Hamsa, Somalia’s Minister of Aid, said, “We are happy to receive aid from the Turkish government to help us curb the spread of the deadly virus.”
On her part, the Minister of Health, Dr. Fawziya Abikar Nur, said, “The supplies will play critical roles in helping us to prevent COVID-19 from spreading further in the country.”
Dr. Abikar also added that through Turkey’s medical donation, her country would not only test but also treat people diagnosed with the virulent disease.
