Member of the Al-Shabaab Militia Surrenders in Kenya

A suspected member of the Al-Shabaab militia group has surrendered in Mandera. He quit the group and gave himself up to Kenya security forces one day after a bus attack killed three people.

Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the bus attack.

The 23-year old suspect, Salat Hajir Jimale, was in Elwak Town when he surrendered to security forces. Elwak Town is in the southern region of Mandera.

The surrender occurred at Elwak Police Station. The police filed it in their Occurrence Book under the number 10/20/2/2020.

Muhammed Abdullahi, who is the Assistant Chief of Bulla Afya, reported the surrender. The chief claims to have spotted the Al-Shabaab militant while attempting to surrender to the local security agents.
