Ms. Shipra Bose has been praised for her role as the Gender Advisor at the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM).
Officials from various UN agencies in Somalia attended the memorial service held in her honor on Saturday.
The ceremony was at the UN head offices in Mogadishu.
Representatives of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) as well as those from the civil society organizations (CSOs) in the country attended the ceremony too.
They all embraced Bose for being the embodiment of passion, purpose, and perseverance.
Speakers commended the dedication she displayed in fighting for gender equality in Somalia.
Catriona Laing, the new UN Special Representative to Somalia, highlighted her advocacy for empowerment of women and girls in the East African nation.
