They were on the verge of entering the port city of Bosaso when police apprehended them.
The men had blackened and concealed the fake Euros specifically to avoid detection.
Puntland police believe that the suspects had planned to circulate the fake Euros in the local market, which could have jeopardized the fragile economy of the region.
