Militants Attack a Puntland Prison Holding Dangerous Criminals

Militants reportedly attacked a prison in Puntland that holds hundreds of dangerous criminals on March 4.

Reports from the region indicate that the prison was in Bosaso, one of the largest cities in Puntland.

The incident took place on Thursday night.

Security sources indicate that the Al-Shabaab militants were intent on releasing their colleagues who are held at the prison.

Hussein Ali Mohamud, Bari Regional Police Chief, confirmed the incident to the media.

According to Mohamud, the extremists attacked the prison at midnight with guns and bombs.

In the process, the extremists killed eight soldiers.

Nevertheless, Mohamud said that security forces rearrested some of the escaped prisoners after launching a massive manhunt for them.
