A military court sitting in Mogadishu dismissed charges filed against Major Ismail Abdimalik, the former Commander of Danab Special Forces.
Major Abdimalik was fired from his position as the Commander of the United States-trained special forces in September 2020.
At the time, he had been accused of abuse of office, abuse of power, and disobeying a direct order from his superiors.
Furthermore, he also faced charges of misusing equipment belonging to the military.
The Mogadishu military court exonerated him of all charges and ordered authorities to set him free immediately.
It is not yet clear whether he would resume his duties with the Danab Special Forces.
