Military Court Executes Al-Shabaab Members in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU — The Military Court of the Somali Armed Forces carried out the execution by firing squad of two operatives affiliated with the Al-Shabaab terrorist group on Monday morning.

The executed individuals were identified as Hassan Ali Iftiin Buule (also known as “Gacmey”) and Hassan Ali Ibrahim Mohamed Ahmed (also known as “Baari Biibaaye”).

Convicted of Terrorism

Both men had previously been sentenced to death by the Court of First Instance. They were found guilty of direct involvement in a series of targeted killings and bomb attacks in the capital, Mogadishu, which claimed the lives of numerous Somali civilians.

The executions were carried out in accordance with the Qisas (retribution) ruling earlier issued by the Military Court, following the exhaustion of their appeals process.

The Military Court frequently handles high-profile terrorism cases, emphasizing a strict stance on those convicted of orchestrating attacks against the state and civilian population.
