Mogadishu, Somalia – In a significant step toward improving the capital’s urban infrastructure, construction has officially commenced on the Nasiib Buundo Road, a major project designed to connect the districts of Warta-Nabadda, Boondheere, and Shibis.
The foundation stone was laid today by Somalia’s Second Deputy Prime Minister, Jibril Abdirashid Haji, alongside the Mayor of Mogadishu, Ahmed Mohamed Amir, in a ceremony attended by local officials and community members.
The new road aims to ease traffic congestion, enhance mobility, and boost access to essential services across Mogadishu’s central districts.
Authorities say the project aligns with broader efforts to modernize the city’s infrastructure and support sustainable urban development.
“This road will serve as a vital artery in Mogadishu’s transport network, as it reflects our commitment to building a capital city that meets the needs of its people,” said Deputy PM Jibril.
Mayor Amir echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the project’s impact on local commerce and everyday travel when he said, “Improving roads means improving lives—this is a step forward for all residents of Mogadishu.”
The Nasiib Buundo Road is expected to bring long-term benefits to both commuters and businesses, helping to stimulate economic activity and reduce travel times across the capital.
