Omar Filish, the Mayor of Mogadishu, has termed the planned street protests against President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo “illegal.”
Consequently, Mayor Filish has banned the protests.
Opposition parties had called for a massive rally on Thursday, January 13 to voice their displeasure with Farmaajo.
On January 11, Mayor Filish banned the planned protests.
He said that his administration would not tolerate protests that authorities have no knowledge of.
Mayor Filish is also the Governor of Banadir Regional Administration (BRA).
