Mogadishu Mayor Visits Fire Victims, Promises Full Administrative Support

MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Governor of Benadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Mungaab), paid a compassionate visit to the Erdoğan Hospital (formerly Digfeer) today to examine the condition of a family affected by a recent residential fire. The victims sustained injuries when a blaze destroyed a multi-story building in the Howlwadaag District earlier this month.

The tragic incident, which took place on the 3rd of this month, resulted in the death of one young girl and left eleven others with injuries ranging from moderate to severe. Medical professionals at the facility confirmed that several of the survivors remain in critical condition, requiring continuous monitoring and specialized care.

During the visit, Governor Mungaab participated in a briefing with the hospital administration and the team of doctors treating the patients. He received a comprehensive update on the clinical status of each family member and discussed the necessary steps for their rehabilitation. The Mayor expressed his profound sympathy for the family’s loss and pain, assuring them that the local government stands with them during this challenging period.

The Benadir Regional Administration has pledged to provide extensive medical aid and social support to the victims. Additionally, the Mayor announced that arrangements are being finalized to transfer the most critically injured patients abroad to receive advanced medical treatment not available locally. He emphasized that the administration will continue to closely monitor the situation until the family recovers.

The Mayor was accompanied on this visit by the Deputy Minister of Communications and Technology, Mr. Hussein Ahmed Ulusow, along with other regional officials who joined in offering comfort and support to the grieving family.
