Mogadishu Residents Hold Rally in Support of Constitutional Amendments

Mogadishu residents held a rally on Monday to show that they support the ongoing amendments to Somalia’s Provisional Constitution.

Mayor Yusuf Jimale of Mogadishu joined others to show their support for the amendments.

Nationally, the amendments have caused mixed reactions.

The entire cabinet – including President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre – support the amendments.

However, former Presidents such as Mohamed Farmaajo and Sharif Sheikh Ahmed have voiced their opposition to the amendments.
