Trial of 35 Somalis Accused of Piracy Kicks off in Mumbai

The trial of 35 Somali nationals accused of piracy has kicked off in Mumbai.

They were arrested by Indian authorities two days ago and transported to Mumbai for the start of the case in court.

Authorities accused them of hijacking MV Ruen, a cargo vessel.

Staff from the Somali Embassy in India were at the court on Monday for the start of the case that has attracted plenty of interest back home.

The pirates hijacked the Maltese vessel in December last year.
