Mogadishu’s Bakara Market Reopened

The government has ordered Bakara Market in Mogadishu to reopen with immediate effect.

Sources indicate that traders were ordered to reopen their stores on Saturday, January 29.

Traders had to close their stores at the market after reports of an impending attack from militants in the area emerged.

Apparently, the militants wanted the traders to pay taxes.

Afterward, the government deployed security and military agents in the region to protect the traders and business premises from any attack by the militants.

A spokesperson for the police told the media that they would not allow anyone other than the government to close or order local businesses to close.
